The film is a powerfully earnest and skillfully heartfelt drama about human struggles and the cyclical nature of abuse from child to adulthood. Sophomore filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton crafts a genuinely effecting, naturalistic film full of raw performances and emotional honesty. In the performance of her life, Larson plays a tough but vulnerable care worker, and former foster child herself, taking care of children in the titular group foster home for troubled kids and at risk youth.
Inspired by Arabian flavours, the Shangri-La has transformed their lounge into a spiced themed locale from the Far and Middle East for the holiday season. Festivities include sweet cocktails, live entertainment ranging from traditional sitar and oud players during the week, to a Middle Eastern jazz fusion band, and belly dancers on the weekends.
Guests can expect a menu of traditional Lebanese mezze, in addition to an afternoon tea tower full of Middle Eastern flavours and sweet treats. 1,001 Nights goes on until January 5.
